Our purpose is to maintain a strong Jewish presence and to meet the needs of our Jewish community on the Treasure Coast through financial support of Temple Beit HaYam

The Temple Beit HaYam Foundation is a separate 501c3 nonprofit foundation whose funds support Temple Beit HaYam.  Our goal is to provide financial support for the future growth, development and viability for generations to come.

Since the inception of Temple Beit HaYam in 1995,we have celebrated over 400 B’nai Mitzvah’s for both children and adults. Our Synagogue has one of the best Pre-Schools in Martin County.

We offer both Friday evening and Saturday morning services in a beautiful, warm and welcoming sanctuary.

The Rappaport Center attracts overflow community crowds and hosts national thought leaders who engage us in current social issues.

Our Rabbi, with a growing family, represents us well in the community and has helped establish an interfaith leaders’ association while providing spiritual comfort to those in need.

Our Temple’s continued growth and strength depends upon your generous giving. These funds will help ensure that we continue to provide a source of strength and comfort in perpetuity.

What happens to the money I give the foundation?

We have carefully chosen an investment strategy that provides long-term growth.  Northern Trust manages our investments through a comprehensive plan of index funds, fixed income and cash.

What if I want to donate to the foundation but earmark funds for a special purpose?

We can partition your funds for that purpose while still helping the foundation grow. It is also possible to create an Endowment Fund within the fund, leaving a legacy for the TBH community.

Is my money tax deductible?

As a separate 501c3, your money is a charitable donation and would fall into current tax law regarding charitable donations.

Why is the foundation a separate entity from the Temple?

To ensure both financial stability and growth as well as provide a system of checks and balances.  The function of the temple board is to manage daily temple operations whereas the function of the foundation board is to ensure the synagogue’s long-term sustainability thru planed giving.

Can I donate funds over time?

Yes.  We encourage donations that span over longer periods of time. A pledge payable over 5 years helps us and is often more feasible for the donor.  We also encourage planned giving.  A portion of your estate can be donated to the foundation payable upon demise with several tax advantages now.

For more information contact our foundation through the Temple office.

How do I donate?

You can donate by calling the temple administrator to meet with one of our foundation members.

Where do my donations go and how will they be distributed?

A percentage of our growth will be given to the temple on an annual basis.  The temple will use those funds for future endeavors and to help keep our temple running without shortfall.

Building Endowments for the Future

As my ancestors planted for me, so too will I plant for my children. — Talmud Ta’anit 23a

As represented in the following parable: One day, Honi the Circle Maker was walking on the road and saw a man planting a carob tree. Honi asked the man, “How long will it take for this tree to bear fruit?”

The man replied, “Seventy years.” Honi then asked the man, “And do you think you will live another seventy years and eat the fruit of this tree?” The man answered, “Perhaps not. However, when I was born into this world, I found many carob trees planted by my father and grandfather. Just as they planted trees for me, I am planting trees for my children and grandchildren so they will be able to eat the fruit of these trees.”
