The study of Torah, Jewish history and tradition is a joyful, never-ending pursuit at Temple Beit HaYam. We have a full calendar of classes, study groups, speakers and workshops to fill the year.
Participatory Torah Study
The Torah Study Group meets at 9:30 a.m. on most Saturday mornings, and at 9:00 a.m. when there is a 10:00 a.m. Shabbat service. The format is open and lively under the leadership of our Rabbi. We read the weekly portion and accompanying commentaries. Our study often leads to freewheeling discussions about traditional Jewish observance, practices in contemporary Reform Judaism, personal spirituality, comparative religions, Zionism, and other ways in which Torah affects the world and our lives.
Adult Learning Classes
The Rabbi, Cantor and lay members of our community teach courses throughout the year, most meeting between four and seven sessions. Courses offered have included: “Stuff Every Jew Should Know,” Adult Confirmation, Who Wrote the Bible, Jewish Theology, and Intensive Hebrew. We also have a monthly Hebrew Bible study group and occasional learning programs led by outside speakers.
