About Us

Temple Beit HaYam was founded in September 1993 by a group of dedicated Jewish families who wanted their children to have a Jewish education and a place to worship as a congregation. Early worship was held in a temporary space in Sewell’s Point and Stuart. High Holiday services were held in the Lyric Theatre. Our Temple building was dedicated in January 2000.

We are large enough to offer various educational and community programs yet small enough to maintain a feeling of intimacy. Religious services, social programs, and school classes occur in our beautiful Temple in Monterey Commons Professional Park.  We offer Hebrew and religious training for youngsters from kindergarten through high school. Our active Sisterhood and Brotherhood plan activities and events designed to encourage social interaction and support of our Temple. Concerts, lectures, and other events are offered to the Treasure Coast community at large. In addition, our Caring Community and Social Action Committee embody our commitment to tzedakah (justice and giving). Our active Youth Groups provide meaningful social and informal learning experiences for our teens.

We invite you to visit our congregation and meet Rabbi Matthew Durbin and Cantor Mike Jarvis.

Learning

Our educational programs are first-class, with an early learning center onsite, a fully inclusive religious school, and a robust adult education program. Our goal is to provide for a lifetime of Jewish learning.

Prayer & Worship

Worship at Temple Beit HaYam is fun, musical, and participatory.  Most of our music invites group singing and we encourage you to join our celebration.  On Friday night we welcome Shabbat with Lecha Dodi. About half of our prayerbook is in Hebrew, the ancient language of Jewish faith and worship. Our prayer books include complete English translations and transliterations to allow all to participate meaningfully.

Now, as always,  Temple Beit HaYam is your home away from home.
